What is WAV file format?

WAVE, or more commonly known as WAV due to its filename extension, stands for Waveform Audio Format. It is a Microsoft and IBM audio file format for storing an audio bitstream on PCs. This is a high-quality audio file type generally used for applications that require high quality, such as CDs. WAV files stores audio data in its raw, uncompressed form, and therefore take up some disk space, unlike MP3s or AACs, which are compressed.

That means WAV files are of very high fidelity because none of the data's bits has been discarded during compression. A WAV file does not have to be decompressed during playback, so playback goes smoother and sound is nice and even.

Use .WAV files for TV, radio, DVD or any other media requiring top uncompromised audio quality. WAV files are lossless, uncompressed, broadcast CD quality music files. WAV files are also the right choice for loops to be processed with Flash for web animations.

Use MP3 files for web pages, web videos, in fact for anything on the Internet. An MP3 file is a compressed music file. It loads rapidly and still plays with a very good sound quality.

1. How to convert WAV to MP3?

Click Convert tab in the main window to open the "Audio Conversion" window.

1. Add Files. Click button to add *.wav file(s).

2. Set Output Format. Click and choose MP3 Audio(*.mp3) from drop-down list according to your device.

3. Choose Destination. Click and select a folder for saving the output files in the dialog that opens.

4. Start Converting. Check files you would like to convert and click button to start converting all checked files. Or simply click button if you just would like to convert one file.

5. Find Output File. Click button and find the output audio file.

 

2. How to convert music to WAV?

Click Convert tab in the main window to open the "Audio Conversion" window.

3. How to convert YouTube video to WAV?

Click Download tab in the main window to open the "Video Download" window.

1. Copy URL of video you want to download. Paste it in the box below and click button to download.

2. Select the download format from the pop up window. Click Download to confirm.

3. If there are multiple videos you would like to download, click button in the upper right corner and paste URLs to the pop up window.

4. Click Convert tab in the main window to open the "Audio Conversion" window.

5. Click and choose WAVE Audio(*.wav) from drop-down list.

6. Check files you would like to convert and click button to start converting all checked files. Or simply click button if you just would like to convert one file.

7. Click button and find the output audio file.
